Improving Power Supply Resilience at Dorset Police HQ

Dorset Police HQ

Worldwise were tasked with improving the resilience of the electrical power supply at Dorset Police HQ in Winfrith.

We have just completed the project management, contract administration and electrical engineering design to hand over a new 500kVA standby generator and new 1250 Amp rated busbar system main switchgear panel that will act in conjunction with the refurbished existing 500 kVA generator and adopt the existing switchgear as a backup board.

Generators are synchronised with the primary mains supply and each other for short term parallel operation.  The new incoming switchboard is designed to be a consolidation supply point.  It includes G59 controls, synchronisation controls, motorised breakers and monitoring equipment to allow the remote management of the electrical supply system.  The system is linked to the Trend BMS that serves the site for alarm and status monitoring.  A further two connection points are provided on site for plugging in emergency standby generators so that N+2 resilience can be maintained.
