Branksome Towers Estate

The Branksome Towers Estate of Poole comprises 19 houses and 4 blocks of between 8 and 12 flats per block all of which have individual parking available on the site.  The development was constructed in the 1980’s.

A feasibility report was produced to inform residents of:

The different Modes of electric vehicle charging currently available on the market and what they mean for charging times, power demand and cost.  The report discusses load management control options and Part S Building Regulations.

Discussions with Scottish and Southern Power Distribution identified the available spare capacity on the existing supply to the estate and concluded that the supply would need to be upgraded if more than a small number of charges were to be installed.

Various options for upgrading the supply were considered with a focus on best value for money in terms of capital outlay per kVA delivered. Design work was undertaken to establish cable routes for distribution to the houses and garages belonging to the flats and metering was also taken into account.  Budget costs were provided to give residents an understanding of how the different options would impact capital expenditure and how a phased approach could be possible.
