Worldwise’s remit included drafting of Employer’s Requirements for the mechanical and electrical services, agreeing a design strategy for key services in each dwelling and strategy for utility services provision to the site, then vertically and horizontally through the building to each dwelling. Utility provision required independent metering for each utility that could be accessed by tenants. Utilities included boosted water supplies to upper floors, satellite television availability to each unit, telephone, power and gas supplies.
The buildability of systems within the limitation of client requirements for preferred boiler plant and distribution arrangements was a challenge, particularly for condensing boiler flue discharge so as not to cause a nuisance to people using the external balcony walkways to each dwelling.
