Project Value:£4,000,000

Commenced:July 2022

Completion:June 2023

Worldwise were engaged by Dixon mechanical Services Limited to undertake site surveys of existing domestic water and heating distribution systems throughout the building and to produce detailed designs for all pipework services within the building to replace failing pipework installations.  Replacement boiler room plant was also required.

The project needed to be executed on site in a phased sequence to ensure that the RNLI could continue their training programmes, keep their function rooms, restaurant, bar and “hotel” facilities operational throughout the project.  The designs took account of an agreed sequence of works so that stripping out redundant services and their replacement could take place with minimum inconvenience to the remainder of the building’s occupants.  This was achieved through tacking the job one riser at a time and putting in parallel main horizontal distribution services and migrating the newly installed risers on the new horizontal pipework as they were completed.

Temporary boiler plant was required on the site to allow the existing plantroom to be stripped out for refurbishment.

This was a complicated project that required close liaison with the RNLI’s estates team, housekeeping and the contracting tea.    The project was completed on time and within the budget.
