Worldwise Limited was engaged to produce a detailed Performance Specification, design checking and full site visit roles for all the mechanical and electrical services systems for this Design and Build contract.

The project comprised a new 4-class primary school plus additional class bases for a playgroup and Reception Class as well as administration areas, staff room and integration with an existing ICT Suite and combined assembly/sports hall.

Upgrading all incoming utilities as required to service the building. The architectural design made good use of natural daylight whilst extended overhanging eaves provided good solar heat gain control on the western façade. Gas-fired condensing boilers serve a low surface temperature radiator heating system to prevent children scalding themselves. Domestic hot water was generated by central gas-fired water boiler with blending valves employed at draw-off points to protect occupants from scalding themselves whilst maintaining 60oC flow temperatures for Legionnella control.

Extensive use was made of data trunking for the distribution of power, data and voice system wiring throughout, thereby minimising chases into walls with the associated potential for noise transfer between classrooms. The project included the provision of Interactive White Boards (Smart) in every classroom
