The demolition of the existing basics bank and community areas at the rear of the church and their replacement with a new 208m2 parish centre with kitchen, crèche, meeting room, toilets and an office and the complete refurbishment of the original 260m2 church was the basis of this project.

Restricted access to the rear of the site meant that most of the heavy plant and materials were actually taken through the church which occupies the front end of the site. Protecting the Grade 2 Listed building fabric during the works was a priority.

Engaged to write a Performance Specification and outline drawings Worldwise worked closely with the client and specialist M&E contractors, V C Dominey and Wessex Building Services, to deliver a high quality job with suitable zoning of heating systems to allow the different areas of the building (coffee drop in centre / worship area / crèche / parish hall) to operate independently when required. Future Media Ltd were engaged by the client to provide audio visual systems and we worked well with them to include wiring and power for audio loops, speakers, projector and sound mixing desks, integrated with CCTV and data systems.

Energy conscious design was a requirements from the outset and solar thermal panels have been included to help meet the domestic water demand, high efficiency lighting systems with some presence detection, zoned heating controls incorporating weather compensation and optimum start with fully condensing boilers all help to meet this requirement of the brief. Other systems provided include fire and intruder alarms, and lightning protection.
