Off the mains gas grid and with limited electricity availability Worldwise were asked to devise a system for heating and hot water production that would minimise energy demands.
An air source heat pump with solar thermal pre-heating into a buffer vessel was chosen as the optimum solution, coupled to underfloor heating with log burning stove in the sitting room. A bulk storage LPG vessel was brought to site and a LPG-fired boiler was provided as a backup for the heat pump system to deal with peak demand period especially for domestic hot water production to serve the multiple bathrooms in the building.
