Originally conceived as a project to take receipt of a fully containerised CT scanner onto a concrete base in a turnkey contract from a scanner manufacturer it became apparent that it would be more economic to undertake the building work in a more traditional way but using a very simple structure that could be designed to allow an existing MRI scanner to be removed/replaced in a room that would become landlocked as a consequence of this project.

Worldwise’s first task was to identify where to obtain a 400 Amp power supply from on site and to work closely with hospital engineers to agree a solution for temporary shutdowns to connect into their ring main network.

Diverting existing mechanical exhaust ventilation ducts out of the way of the proposed building and addressing the ventilation and cooling needs of the scanner and Technical rooms within limited site space and without upsetting occupants of adjacent departments with noise intrusion was also Worldwise’s responsibility.

We undertook the detailed design of all M&E services and interfaced them with the services in the adjacent scanner department.
