Refurbishment of Girls Boarding House & Replacement of all Pipework Services and Plant for Boarding House & Junior School.

Starting out as a feasibility study into the remodelling of the boarding houses it became apparent that all of the domestic water and LPHW heating systems dated back to the time when the building was originally constructed in c.1937 and it was in need of replacement due to its poor condition, lack of reliability and high risk of legionella generation. It was also desirable to separate systems so that the boarding house could be operated separately from the Junior School elements of the building particularly because the boarding house would be let out in summer months when the school was otherwise closed.

All works were executed whilst the school remained live with a considerable amount of the more disruptive elements undertaken during the summer holiday period. New boiler plant, cold water storage and booster pumps, hot water storage and plate heat exchangers and complete distribution systems for these were provided along with lightning protection of the structure, re-wiring, new lighting, fire alarm and data wiring for the boarding house. The gas pipework to the main kitchen was replaced due to failure of the original under test pressure.
