A failed oil-fired boiler and damaged chimney meant that there was no heating available in the Grade 2 Listed, 15th century church.  The building fabric was deteriorating and the congregation relocated to another site.

Worldwise were engaged to assess the options available and concluded that linin the existing chimney to allow a condensing oil-fired boiler to be employed would be expensive.  Properly ventilating the basement boiler room was also a challenge.  An external oil-fired condensing boiler was seen as the preferred solution with the basement room used to house a cross plate heat exchanger t separate new boiler plant from the reused heating distribution system.  Circulating pumps, dosing pot and controls were also to be housed in the basement.  Additional radiators were to be employed to make up for a shortfall that existing in the original system.

A Structural Engineer needed to be engaged to establish a way of supporting the external boiler and fuel store adjacent to the old boiler room because of the existing collapsing oil tank base.

A detailed report with drawings and images of proposed equipment was prepared by Worldwise for Diocesan Approval Committee (DAC).  Worldwise provided detailed budget costs to support the case.

DAC approved the scheme and once funding was in place, Worldwise produced a detailed design and specification on which competitive tenders were sought and the contract duly awarded and a successful installation took place.
