Located in the New Forest, Hampshire the development of Forest Corner Farm Units 1, 2 and 7 needed to comply with strict Planning constraints whilst still delivering buildings that were fit for purpose and included 4 operating theatres, X-Ray, Prep room, sterile stores, staff changing, autoclaves and laundry facilities in Unit 2 and multiple consulting room, cat and dog waiting areas, staff training room and admin spaces in Unit 1. The building needed to be in keeping with the farm environment. Unit 7 comprised a specialist rehabilitation pool and physiotherapy exercise yard for dogs.
Worldwise delivered detailed M&E services designs for the buildings and undertook high level utilities upgrade strategy development not only for this phase of the site’s development but also for future proposals for MRI and CT scanner upgrades and ward building upgrades. This included upgrading the mains power supply to 500kVA and providing a 500kVA prime generator.
Medical gas usage was examined and design developed to have cryogenic bulk oxygen storage on the site to greatly reduce the frequency of deliveries to the site and the amount of time spent changing cylinders.
220 staff are engaged on the site.
Project was completed in 52 weeks on site.
The project won Sheerin Bettle Architecture two accolades:
- New Forest National Park Building Design Award for Best Conservation Project.
- New Forest National park Building Design Award for Best Non residential Project.
Worldwise were delighted to play their part in contribution to these awards, particularly in light of the heavily serviced requirements of the buildings.
